About The Artist

Mariah Blodgett

New Roots Creative is owned and operated by designer & multi-disciplinary artist Mariah Blodgett. Mariah was born and raised in the tiny coastal town of Brooklin, Maine. She grew up in a creative community of artists, musicians, and hardworking entrepreneurs.

She comes from a family of practical hoarders and eclectic handy-persons who see the treasure in what most would call trash. Like a mischief of magpies, they are genetically programmed to collect the discarded. Mariah is no different. She enjoys creating art and crafting with scraps, and when something breaks, she sees the potential to repair or create something altogether new. Many of Mariah’s pieces start with something vintage or will contain thrifted or salvaged elements in order to create the least amount of waste possible.

Mariah attended Husson University in Bangor, Maine, and graduated with a BS degree in marketing communications, but she never strayed far from her creative roots, always gravitating back to various forms of art, illustration, graphic design, and creative writing. Mariah is well and truly a Jane of all trades. Like an early 2000s Fruit Rollups commercial, she’ll have you asking: What will she roll out next?
